In the paradigm of architectural innovation, Artificial Intelligence (AI) emerges as a nascent yet potent force reshaping traditional archetypes. AI applications are being explored to automatically generate architectural plans and designs thus creating multiple iterations during the concept phase of a project. This paper delves into the latest advancements of AI in automated design applications, particularly focusing on its integration with Building Information Modelling (BIM) within educational buildings.

Through an in-depth analysis of recent technological developments, the study aims to explore the potential of AI-driven innovation in automated architectural design, specifically through the use of evolutionary algorithms. By scrutinizing recent literature and exploring case studies, this paper seeks to identify and evaluate how these new technologies have reshaped the AEC industry and what opportunities and challenges are posed by these advancements.

Central to this exploration are a series of research inquiries aimed at uncovering the latest trends and breakthroughs in AI-driven architectural technologies. These inquiries delve into the efficacy of algorithms in optimising design processes and the integration of AI with BIM for enhanced decision-making while creating automated architectural design. From generative design algorithms to machine learning-powered analysis tools, a plethora of new technologies have emerged in the recent past, revolutionising architectural practice. However, the findings highlight a gap in the application of these technologies in more hierarchical architecture building typologies, like hospitals and educational buildings. A deeper study needs to be conducted in this space to understand the efficacy of using automated design to plan and develop such complex building types.

This paper explores how the latest advancements in AI-driven technologies serve as catalysts for innovation and advancement in architecture. It also examines the potential of integrating AI with BIM while creating automated design that can be used easily for real-world applications, particularly for complex projects such as educational institutions.
