AI Guidance
AI tools must not be used to create, alter or manipulate original research data and results.
Authors are responsible for maintaining oversight of AI use and outcomes of that use. They should carefully review and edit the result. The author is fully responsible for the accuracy of any information provided by the tool, for avoiding plagiarism and for correctly referencing any supporting work on which that information depends.
When writing a paper, Generative AI and AI-assisted technologies should only be used for editing purposes. E.g. to improve readability and grammar.
Authors must disclose any use of AI in the manuscript itself as well as to the editor on submission, identifying which AI system was used and for what purpose, either in conducting the research or in writing the paper. A statement will appear in the published work.
Authors should not list AI and AI-assisted technologies as an author or co-author, nor cite AI as an author.
The final decision on the appropriateness of AI use in a submitted manuscript or the research described therein lies with the journal’s editor.
